Squamish First Nations Council Portraits

Squamish Nation Council Portraits - Series No. 1 of 3

In late November, I had the privilege and honour to create the official portraits of the newly elected Squamish Nation Council and to document their Oath Signing Ceremony.

The area where I am lucky to live, now called Vancouver, is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. This is stolen land colonized by the British and Spanish.

The new Council will be moving forward with plans to develop and create housing and revenues for their members. It is a very important transition for the Nation, and I’m honoured to have been invited to create these portraits and document this new Council’s first official day.

Thank you to @johnathonv for your long friendship, collaborations and trust in me to create these for the @squamishnation

To my 1st assistants @markgibbonphoto and @michalurbanekphoto, thank you for making the heavy lifting and tech easier.
